Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary today, July 17, 2026, but a royal expert believes the ongoing Epstein scandal involving her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, may cast a shadow over the occasion.
Intimate Wedding During Pandemic
The couple tied the knot on July 17, 2020, at All Saints Chapel in Windsor Great Park, with only 20 guests due to Covid-19 restrictions. Attendees included Beatrice's parents, the late Queen Elizabeth, and Prince Philip. Beatrice wore a gown by Sir Norman Hartnell that the Queen had worn in the 1960s.
Challenges in Marriage
Since their wedding, Beatrice and Edoardo—a millionaire property developer and descendant of Italian nobility—have faced public scrutiny over Andrew and Ferguson's ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew denies all accusations. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Mirror: "The traditional gift for a sixth wedding anniversary is something on the theme of iron—representing strength and durability. Beatrice and Edo have certainly endured a testing time during their marriage, as even their wedding had to be first postponed and then completely scaled down because of the Covid pandemic. Since then, Beatrice has had to watch the humiliation of both her mother and father because of the Epstein scandal. It's bound to have put pressure on her own relationship."
Family Support Remains Strong
Despite the strain, the couple appeared united at the recent wedding of Beatrice's cousin, Peter Phillips. Bond noted: "Their invitation to the wedding was proof that Beatrice's royal relations do not hold her responsible in any way for all that her parents are alleged to have done. The King remains fond of his nieces and it has been made clear that both Beatrice and Eugenie will continue to be invited to family events."
Anniversary Celebrations Likely Family-Oriented
With busy lives juggling children and careers, Bond suggests the couple may celebrate privately. "It may be more of a family celebration with their two little girls and perhaps Edo's son, Wolfie, joining in, rather than a romantic dinner out. On the other hand, I'm sure they have enough money to employ a nanny if needed. So let's hope they have a happy wedding anniversary, with many more to come."
