Two Manchester Airport colleagues who became best friends at work discovered they were long-lost brother and sister after working together for two years. Dave Green and Andrea Urmston shared their story on ITV's This Morning, broadcast on 11 August, where hosts Andi Peters and Rochelle Humes heard how the pair uncovered their familial connection.
Friends at work, siblings in reality
The pair met in 2005 while working at Manchester Airport, where Dave managed the bus station and Andrea serviced vending machines. They struck up an immediate connection and became best friends. It was only two years later that they realised they were not just colleagues but long-lost siblings.
After Dave revealed he had been adopted, Andrea said she had been searching for her brother, Stuart, for 30 years following his adoption. Dave then disclosed that his birth name was Stuart Proudlove - the same name as Andrea's adopted brother.
An emotional reunion
Andrea immediately called her mother, saying: "I said 'mum, I think I found Stuart, your Stuart'." After obtaining Stuart's date of birth, Andrea contacted Dave to ask for his date of birth and birth hospital, which matched those of her adopted brother. The two shared a "long emotional hug" before going to Andrea's mother's house, where the trio had an emotional reunion.
Recalling the moment, Dave said: "I'm nearly choking up now!" while Andrea broke down in tears, saying: "Sorry!" as she explained her mother "tried so hard to find him". She added: "She [her mum] used to get so upset I'd like grown up like with her getting upset because she couldn't find him and I promised her that I would find him for her."
Host Rochelle Humes, 37, also became emotional, saying: "Oh my gosh!" and adding: "This is the most, it's like the best kind of fairytale." She continued: "I'm so happy for you guys what a lovely story for the whole family", adding: "That's made me so happy, should we just go home? That was lovely!"
