Netflix has crowned the winner of a major fan vote, granting one eliminated player a second shot at the massive $4.56 million (£3.4 million) prize in the upcoming season of Squid Game: The Challenge.
The Fan Vote Winner Is Announced
Following the thrilling season two finale, Netflix invited viewers to choose one favourite eliminated contestant to make a comeback. The final voting round featured five contenders: Mark (Player 100), Viper (Player 152), Zoe (Player 369), Raul (Player 431), and Jacob (Player 432).
Ultimately, Viper (Player 152), a New York-based DJ and SoulCycle instructor, emerged victorious, securing a guaranteed place in the show's third season. Viper was previously knocked out during the catch game.
Viper's Reaction and Fan Response
In a statement to Netflix's Tudum, Viper expressed his gratitude, saying, "It's been positively overwhelming seeing such an outpouring of support." He believes viewers recognised his genuine nature and his ability to advocate for himself without compromising his identity.
Reflecting on his experience, he added, "I did learn that every single decision should be considered in great detail. For season three, I will surely use a microscope with every choice I make."
The announcement sparked a wave of mixed reactions on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). While fans like Kenny and @Andyunited2352 celebrated the result, others were disappointed. One user, Rem, argued that Player 431 (Raul) had a more unfair elimination, stating, "No one had a more unfair elimination than 431." Meanwhile, Callie simply remarked, "Should've been Zoe."
