Maya Jama, James Acaster and King Kenny risk being exposed as Traitors on Celebrity Traitors after they were seen gathering in the same room before their daunting murder in plain sight challenge. Murdered star Amol Rajan has questioned whether the trio made a costly mistake by plotting together.
The task requires one player to get another to yawn and then ask "am I boring you?" without raising suspicions. Maya and James recruited King Kenny following Professor Hannah Fry's banishment, and the three must now murder Jerry Hall or Ross Kemp before midnight.
Viewers question the challenge
Fans have wondered whether the challenge could make the trio easier to spot. One wrote on X: "The latest challenge of murder in plain sight on #celebritytraitors Only need one traitor to do that task!" Another said: "James and Maya are yawning for their lives what kind of murder in plain sight challenge was this?"
A third commented: "even if james and maya SOMEHOW pull off the murder in plain sight literally everybody is going to know that only three people couldve done it cause they were together all night?? Or they'll just get accused of yawning from being tired from being traitors like."
Amol Rajan's warning
Amol raised his concerns in his Metro column, as reported by the Mirror. He said: "In her brilliant interview for Uncloaked after she was banished, Professor Hannah Fry revealed a killer insight from her analysis of previous series: Traitors never, ever hang out together."
"And yet... that's exactly what James, Maya and Kenny did at the end of the last episode. It was a beautiful example of how 'murder in plain sight' elevates the game to another level. Might it have occasioned the Traitors' first huge blunder?"
Maya's winning potential
Despite that warning, Amol believes Maya could still go all the way and win. He praised both her personality away from the spotlight and her ruthless approach to the game. "Maya was a revelation. Lovely and humble, she has no airs and graces. The woman I encountered was so smart and self-deprecating that it really brought home to me the eternal truth that you don't know anyone from their public profile," he shared.
"Who could have known that Maya would inhabit her villainous role so totally? Right now, she has zero heat on her. Her little stunt, feigning innocence to get a shield, was genius. And she has ruthlessly banished fellow Traitors twice (Richard and Hannah). Clever."
Amol also praised the producers' decision to reveal the celebrity line-up three days before filming began, giving contestants a chance to research their fellow stars before entering the castle. Celebrity Traitors returns tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
