Traitors star on 'throwing co-star under the bus' in dramatic U-turn

Nick Mohammed has addressed the moment he and his fellow Traitors turned on Joe Marler in last year's Celebrity Traitors final, a decision that ultimately helped Alan Carr win the show.

While promoting the upcoming HBO and Sky legal thriller series War, alongside his Celebrity Traitors co-star Celia Imrie, Nick was asked by Heart Radio host Amanda Holden if he had any regrets.

He said: "No, I think, don't get me wrong, I kind of felt bad for throwing Joe under the bus right at the end but then I think for Alan to inadvertently then win in that way was kind of, not that I was thinking this at the time, but it was kind of wonderful."

Celia Imrie on Alan Carr's winning streak

Branded the "worst" Traitor by Amanda, Celia said Alan's hilarious ways were what helped him make it to the end. "But that was the winning streak, [it was] just brilliant," she said.

The actress went on to say that, in hindsight, the three chosen Traitors seemed obvious, though stressed that their judgement was very different when they were around the table.

New series returns with 21 celebrities

The show returns tonight (1 October) for its second series, with Claudia Winkleman returning as host. This year's 21 celebrity players are Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Maya Jama, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha'la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E. Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft and Sharon Rooney.

Asked what she thought of the new cast, Celia joked: "They're not going to be as good as us, I can't wait though." Discussing the new series, Claudia has promised more dramatic moments, with plenty of twists and turns expected.

Claudia Winkleman rules out being a contestant

Recently asked if she could ever be a contestant, the presenter ruled it out. She said: "I'm too thick. I mustn't play it in public. I must not, thank you so much. I'm just being honest. I could have come up with a schmoozier (answer) but no."

"It's a privilege to play that game and to be at the round table, but I think I would just be too awful at it." Sharing her thoughts on this year's cast, she added: "They all made me laugh. They are all utterly brilliant and the funniest people on earth. Rob Beckett said something that made me hide in a bush until I composed myself."

Asked how the famous faces performed in the challenges, she continued: "They excelled at the missions. Amazing teamwork and they just really wanted to build the prize pot." The Celebrity Traitors will air on Thursday and Friday nights at 8pm on BBC One.
