Traitors Finalist Jack Butler Reveals Producers Calmed His Fury After Betrayal
Traitors' Jack Butler: Producers Calmed My Betrayal Fury

After three intense weeks of psychological warfare, deception, and strategic gameplay, Faithful contestant Jack Butler fought his way to the dramatic final of The Traitors series four. However, in a heartbreaking twist, the personal trainer was ultimately denied the substantial cash prize in the closing moments of the endgame.

The Final Betrayal and Producer Intervention

Jack's journey came to a crushing conclusion when he was betrayed by fellow finalists Rachel Duffy and his own close ally, Stephen Libby. The shock elimination triggered such a furious reaction from Butler that production staff were compelled to step in and manage the situation.

Reflecting on that tense moment after the episode aired publicly on Friday night, Jack provided candid insight to The Mail on Sunday. "The first ten minutes after it happened, I was absolutely steaming," he confessed. "I was so angry and I got pulled into a room with the producers and I was calmed down a little bit."

Psychological Toll and Post-Show Perspective

"Then I was just looking forward to going home and seeing my partner and my family," Butler continued. "It's like 10 minutes of anger and then you're like hang on, it's not actually life or death. Honestly, it's such a psychological game and you've gone through all these weeks of questioning who you can trust."

The personal trainer reserved particular praise for Stephen Libby's gameplay, despite the ultimate betrayal. "I think Stephen really acted fantastically, putting on the facade of being a faithful in the earlier episodes. We really clicked and we get on so well. We're very similar. And I just thought he's got to be a Faithful because he's terrified just like me. He doesn't want to be murdered."

"It was only at the end when he turned his slate around with my name," Jack acknowledged. "But it's a testament to how much of a fantastic game he played. And Rachel as well. They were both phenomenal. They absolutely deserved it. I am genuinely really happy for both of them."

Engagement Story and Wedding Plans

Many viewers had been convinced Jack would emerge victorious, particularly after he shared his plans for the prize money during the series. He had revealed that if he won, he intended to put a deposit on a house and propose to his girlfriend, Kay.

Despite missing out on the £95,750 prize, love ultimately triumphed for Butler. He proposed to Kay during a romantic trip to Santorini in July, approximately two months after the series was filmed in Scotland.

The Proposal That Almost Didn't Happen

Jack recounted the proposal details, revealing how motion sickness nearly derailed his carefully laid plans. "I took Kay on a yacht tour around the island. The whole crew were in on the surprise. They said look we'll stop near the volcano and we'll pretend we're taking pictures of you and then you can hide it in your pocket."

"We got about halfway around the cruise and it was really rocky on the water and I got horrific motion sickness to the point where I was at the back end of the boat with a bucket and they were like, 'Are you going to do it or call it off?'"

Thankfully, the seas calmed enough for Butler to proceed. "But they stopped the boat and my stomach settled and it all went perfectly!" he shared with relief.

Looking ahead to wedding plans, Jack confirmed he intends to invite all his Traitors co-stars to celebrate his marriage. He added with humour that Stephen and Rachel might be expected to "chip in" given their financial windfall from the show.

Finale Details and Record Viewing Figures

The dramatic conclusion saw the group first banish fellow contestant Faraaz Noor, before eliminating Jack in a tense second round of voting. Traitors Rachel and Stephen were visibly overwhelmed with emotion as host Claudia Winkleman announced their victory.

The triumphant duo celebrated their win with glasses of bubbly, reflecting on their unforgettable experience throughout the series.

The series finale achieved remarkable viewing figures, averaging 9.4 million viewers with a peak of 9.6 million and capturing an impressive 54.9% audience share. This represents the biggest overnight audience across the market since The Celebrity Traitors finale in November 2025, making it the most watched overnight audience for the civilian version of the series ever recorded.
