Celebrity Traitors fans think they spotted James Acaster accidentally revealing he is a Traitor during the roundtable. The comedian, 41, was recruited by Maya Jama and Richard E Grant, despite admitting he wanted to stay a Faithful.
Near the end of Thursday night's episode, which saw Industry star Myha'la banished, James explained his theory about who could have been recruited as a Traitor, without revealing it was him.
James's roundtable comment
'We know for a fact that Richard was a Traitor,' he said, referring to Richard being banished at the start of the episode. 'If I'm thinking there was definitely someone recruited before that first roundtable, and we know Richard was a Traitor involved in the recruitment, I think Richard would just like to hang out with Michael [Sheen], and I completely understand why.'
Some viewers thought James revealing that Richard was involved in the first recruitment was a blunder. X user gem_mcgroarty asked: 'Did they miss picking up on James Acaster saying they know Richard was involved in the initial recruitment of the third Traitor? As how would anyone know that if they weren't there…'
Fans divided over slip-up
cassie_33_ also questioned: 'Feel like James made a blunder but no one picked up on it, unless you were there you wouldn't 100% know Richard was there for the third recruitment.'
Others argued it was an obvious conclusion, with melissaveep stating: 'Because Richard did the “I am a Traitor” move right after Claudia picked them and BEFORE the initial recruitment, so it's a fairly obvious conclusion to come to.'
What's next for the Traitors
Tonight, Professor Hannah Fry, the latest Traitors recruit, will try to stay in the game after attracting heat. She, James and Maya will murder one person out of three choices: James Blunt, Bella Ramsey, and Sebastian 'Bash' Croft.
James admitted he wanted to take out singer James to avoid confusion with more than one James, but some fans think he has a smarter reason. alexandria_bird highlighted: 'Lowkey I think James Acaster is a genius for wanting to kill James Blunt but masking it as a joke so the other traitors don't catch on. Hannah Fry is gonna be under so much suspicion and feeds the faithful another traitor.'
Celebrity Traitors airs on Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
