Fans of Celebrity Traitors are reeling after Maya Jama turned on fellow Traitor Richard E Grant during the first roundtable of season two, just two episodes into the series.
The roundtable ended on a cliffhanger, so viewers must wait until next week to learn who has been banished. However, reaction has been swift after Maya, 32, expressed doubt about Richard, 69, in front of the other competitors.
Richard's earlier blunder
In the first episode, the Withnail and I actor admitted to the room that he was a Traitor minutes after host Claudia Winkleman made her selection. He later admitted the remark was a genuine blunder, despite some initially believing it was a double bluff.
Several people at Ardross Castle remain convinced Richard is Faithful, but others have not let his wild comment go, leading to a tense interrogation at Friday night's roundtable.
Fans react to Maya's betrayal
If Richard is the first star banished, it would help protect Maya's place in the castle. Fans, however, could not believe how quickly she was willing to betray her ally.
On X, jackbenham13 wrote: 'MAYA GOING FOR RICHARD OMG.' stevebristoluk commented: 'Maya Jama… in for the kill,' while ZoeAinge25 quipped: 'Maya! Is she throwing Richard under the bus already?' laughlovexo added: 'I can't believe Maya did that 😭😭.'
It seemed unanimous among the Celebrity Traitors fandom that Richard has dug his grave, a prediction that will not be confirmed until the show returns next Thursday. jane_noir1 tweeted: 'Richard's plan back fired 😩,' while swarlaskidd questioned: 'Oh my god are they about to get Richard out on the first round table????' leiznomis added: 'I know Richard is fighting for his life right now 😂😂😂.'
Murder speculation
Following the first banishment, the Traitors will choose someone to murder in the dead of the night. After Friday night's challenge, Jerry Hall and Professor Hannah Fry are at risk. Some speculate Jerry will be murdered so the murder can be pinned on Professor Hannah, making her a scapegoat at the next roundtable.
Celebrity Traitors airs on Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
