Celebrity Traitors viewers are convinced Professor Hannah Fry is "a goner" after the Traitors recruited her in the latest instalment of the BBC gameshow. Fans believe the mathematician's new role as a villain has ruined her chances of winning the series.
Presenter Claudia Winkleman welcomed 21 celebrities into the castle last week, and three have already been eliminated. The first casualty was journalist Amol Rajan, who was murdered by Traitors Maya Jama and Richard E. Grant.
Richard E. Grant's Roundtable Exit
Richard's own stint on the programme ended in the series' very first roundtable elimination. He was voted out following an almost unanimous decision, with his departure being largely down to his own doing.
The seasoned actor made a catastrophic mistake when he told a room packed with Faithfuls that he was actually a Traitor, moments after being chosen. His fellow contestants couldn't work out whether the confession was a genuine slip-up or part of a broader game plan, but they couldn't overlook it when elimination time arrived.
Within hours, American actress Myha'la was voted out after the other participants grew wary of her alliance with Richard, reports Wales Online.
Traitors Recruit Hannah Fry
Having lost a fellow Traitor, Maya and comedian James Acaster had to recruit a replacement. The pair selected Professor Hannah Fry to join the dark side because "she's a professor". The mathematician accepted the invitation to become a villain, but viewers at home reckon her recruitment has sealed her fate.
Fans argue Hannah was the most obvious choice for the Traitors to recruit, given she is one of their greatest threats, which means fellow Faithfuls will be watching her every move. They've also highlighted that players will grow increasingly wary of Hannah when she keeps surviving murders, since the Traitors would surely want her eliminated if she were a Faithful.
Taking to X, one viewer remarked: "Recruiting Hannah was such an obvious mistake; she's never going to be able to explain her continued state of not having been murdered. Had they recruited anyone else she would still be under suspicion for, you guessed it, not being murdered. #CelebrityTraitors".
Fan Reactions Divided Over Strategy
Another agreed, writing: "#celebritytraitors Hannah was probably the worst one to recruit as there was already heat on her. Should have recruited someone more in the background or one of the actors - Hannah looked suspicious at breakfast and will be out very soon. Traitors not tactical."
A further viewer added: "I think they made a mistake recruiting Hannah! #CelebrityTraitors," while a fourth predicted: "justice for hannah shes 10000% a goner #celebritytraitors."
However, others believe Maya and James made the correct decision, with one supporter commenting: "nope. she was one of their biggest threats, and now she's a threat to the other faithfuls." The Celebrity Traitors season 2 is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
