Strictly Come Dancing viewers have "confirmed" Josh Widdicombe's perfect role on the BBC show after he appeared upstairs in the "Clauditorium" during Sunday night's results show.
The comedian has joined former professional dancer Johannes Radebe and TV presenter Emma Willis as hosts for the 2026 series, following the departure of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman at the end of last year.
Fans have been adjusting to the new format, which sees Josh and Emma based downstairs on a Saturday night, with Johannes greeting the couples upstairs after their routines.
Fans react to Josh upstairs
But during Sunday's show, Josh joined Johannes in the "Clauditorium" – the area named after Claudia Winkleman, who used the space for her jokes and banter with the celebrities.
After seeing Josh interact with the couples upstairs instead of standing next to Emma downstairs, viewers took to social media to share their views.
One fan said: "Josh has to be upstairs." Another wrote: "Josh is beyond suited to being upstairs talking to the celebrities and cracking jokes. Amazed he's not there more where he can be more of himself."
A third commented: "Josh is so better suited to the Clauditorium than Jojo." A fourth added: "Josh is so much more comfortable upstairs chatting to the dancers. Keep him there and put Jojo back on the dancefloor please."
Warm reception for new hosts
It appears viewers are warming to the three new presenters. One wrote on X: "Emma, Josh and Jojo are really starting to make this their own now x."
A second said: "I think Emma, Jo and Josh have settled well." A third added: "Really enjoying Emma and Josh bits in Atrictly this week…they are really making me smile."
Josh is best known for Channel 4's The Last Leg and Mock the Week, and won the first series of Taskmaster in 2015. He previously took part in the 2024 Christmas special of the show, where he became good friends with producer Sarah James.
When Tess and Claudia announced their decision to leave the programme in 2025, Josh sent Sarah a text saying: "All right, I'll take the job." Although sent as a joke, Josh later revealed he was glad he made the decision because he never expected to be in the running for one of the most sought after jobs in television.
Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One and iPlayer.
