Spencer Matthews has shared a heartfelt public message following the early departure of his wife, Vogue Williams, from the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle. The podcast host, 40, became the third celebrity to be voted off the ITV reality show on Monday.
A Supportive Message From Afar
Taking to Instagram, the Made In Chelsea star, who is currently competing in an Iron Man event in Antarctica, expressed his pride in his wife's stint. He described Vogue as a "positive and pragmatic" figure in camp and praised her for showing "heart, courage and fearlessness" in challenges.
"I would have loved nothing more than to have been there for her when she came out," Spencer wrote, explaining his absence from Australia. He added that the family could now resume FaceTime calls and he looked forward to their reunion the following week.
Vogue's Jungle Journey and Public Reaction
Vogue Williams entered the jungle as a surprise late arrival alongside Tom Read Wilson, six days after the initial campmates. Her exit came after she landed in the bottom two with fellow model Kelly Brook, with hosts Ant and Dec revealing she had received the fewest public votes.
Upon leaving, she was met by her agent, Louisa McDonald. Her exit followed a noticeable shift in public opinion. Initially tipped as a potential 'Queen of the Jungle', her odds with bookmaker Ladbrokes plummeted to 200/1 after what some viewers perceived as "clunky comments" and fallouts with fellow campmates, notably YouTube star AngryGinge and rapper Aitch.
Fans on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) suggested her clashes with the popular duo may have influenced the vote. Some also noted that the outcome might have been different if voting had been open in her native Ireland.
Expert Analysis and Future Prospects
Despite the early exit, showbiz expert Jonathan Shalit told the Daily Mail that Vogue's career trajectory remains strong. He highlighted her natural charm and talent as a broadcaster, suggesting the intense jungle environment can lead to comments being misinterpreted.
"What viewers also saw is the strength of her partnership with Spencer," Shalit said. "Together they’re one of the most compelling and relatable couples on British TV." He concluded that the profile boost from the show would likely leave her in a stronger position.
Vogue's participation came a decade after Spencer's own controversial exit from I'm A Celebrity in 2015, which followed the discovery of steroid use. Some had hoped her appearance would lift what was described as the "dark I'm A Celeb cloud" over the Matthews household.
In her exit interview, Vogue admitted struggling with the lack of food but said she would miss her campmates. She later threw her support behind comedian Ruby Wax to win the series. The jungle adventure continues for the remaining celebrities, including Kelly Brook, Martin Kemp, and Jack Osbourne.
