How Shona McGarty Smuggled Air Freshener into I'm A Celeb Camp
Shona McGarty's I'm A Celeb air freshener scandal

The jungle camp in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! has been rocked by another smuggling scandal, this time involving EastEnders actress Shona McGarty and an enormous can of air freshener.

The Contraband Discovery

During the episode that aired on 24 November, the camp was thrown into chaos after former footballer Alex Scott was caught with smuggled salt and pepper packets. Producers punished all campmates by removing a star from their dinner and demanded that any other contraband be handed over immediately.

It was at this moment that Shona McGarty revealed she had been hiding a large can of air freshener, leaving both her fellow celebrities and viewers completely baffled about how she managed to conceal such a bulky item.

Ant and Dec's Theory

The mystery was partially solved by hosts Ant and Dec during their Unpacked segment following the main show. While discussing who might face the next challenge, Dec revealed his theory about the air freshener's origin.

"I think I know where she got it. She nicked it from the trial," Dec stated, suggesting that McGarty hadn't brought the item from the UK but had instead stolen it during a recent Bushtucker Trial.

The trial in question involved McGarty, Alex Scott, Jack Osbourne and Martin Kemp being locked in cages on makeshift toilets while attempting to retrieve stars as bugs fell on them. Although no air freshener was visible to audiences during the broadcast, production may have had one on hand that McGarty subsequently swiped.

Campmate Backlash

The revelation didn't go down well with McGarty's fellow contestants. Martin Kemp immediately headed to the Bush Telegraph to express his disapproval, while Jack Osbourne commented "There's always one" in response to the smuggling.

Model and television presenter Kelly Brook added to the criticism, stating "I thought we were a team," highlighting the breach of trust the contraband represented within the camp dynamic.

This marks the second major smuggling incident in the current series, following Alex Scott's attempt to bring seasoning into the camp, proving that even in the Australian jungle, celebrities will go to extraordinary lengths for small comforts.
