Prince Harry could soon pivot to British television and daytime game shows, taking a leaf out of Princess Anne's book, as he searches for new ways to engage with the UK public, a former royal butler has claimed.
Grant Harrold, who worked at Highgrove for King Charles between 2004 and 2011, suggested that the Duke of Sussex might move away from his controversial Netflix projects in favour of more traditional, "in brand" appearances. Speaking to Smooth Spins Casino, Harrold mooted the idea of Harry fronting a series exploring royal homes and palaces, which he believes the Royal Family would be much more comfortable with.
Possible daytime TV appearances
He also floated the possibility of the Prince taking a seat on popular British daytime and entertainment programmes. He suggested that appearances on This Morning or Good Morning Britain could be on the cards, particularly as a platform to promote his charitable endeavours like the Invictus Games.
The former butler even compared Harry's potential media future to his aunt, the Princess Royal. "Could Harry go on a quiz show? Well, Princess Anne was on Blankety Blank," Harrold noted, adding that a stint on a Michael McIntyre show would be "a bit of fun" and is highly possible. He explained that since the Duke is no longer carrying out traditional royal duties, he needs to find a fresh approach that keeps his family happy while rebuilding his public image.
Winning back the British public
He said: "Doing the game show circuit, making guest appearances to promote his brand and the games is completely feasible. Trying a different approach is not a bad idea for Harry as he's a lot of fun, he needs to win the British public over."
"I think we'll definitely see him probably more between now and Christmas. I think he'll run everything he does past the King, just to keep him happy."
According to Harrold, doing the game show circuit or making guest appearances is a completely feasible strategy that could help the "fun" Prince win back the British public. He anticipates seeing more of Harry in the UK before Christmas, predicting that the Duke will run his future plans past the King to ensure he remains in his good graces.
Royal homes series suggestion
He went on: "If Prince Harry was to be sensible about the whole situation and not go down the Netflix route, he could try a series of him going around royal homes and palaces. I don't think it would be that hugely successful, but the Royal Family wouldn't mind him doing that because then it's in brand."
"In terms of British reality shows, it's tricky. I could see him being back on the sofa of This Morning, especially with the Invictus Games. You never know, he could be on Good Morning Britain. He's done all the American chat shows. I would say it's not impossible. I think it would be acceptable if he's promoting the Invictus Games, but as long as he's really careful."
