Michael Carrick is still looking to offload more players before the transfer deadline passes at 11pm on Tuesday. Multiple players could depart Old Trafford to take millions off the club's current wage structure.
Most recently, Toby Collyer joined West Bromwich for an initial fee of £3million, plus a potential £4.6m in add-ons, taking over £200,000 out of United's annual salary bill. The club also retain a 40% sell-on clause should the midfielder move on from the Championship side.
Who could still leave United this summer?
Joshua Zirkzee is expected to leave on loan with Fiorentina leading the race to sign him. The striker was an unused substitute in United's 5-1 win over Ipswich Town on Sunday and has been linked with a move away for most of the summer.
Harry Amass is also likely to leave on loan with Carrick discussing the left-back's prospects for the 2026/27 season last week. The United boss said: "It comes to this stage [of the window], and there's always a little bit where, and this is not just Harry by the way, this is just the stage of the window and putting squads together and dynamics of changes, and younger players and loans and not loans, and all sorts of different scenarios."
"I think we always try to do the best for each individual player, as well as keeping the group strong. I've been really pleased with Harry. I think he had a really good season that didn't finish so good with the injury, but it's been great to have him around pre-season. He's done really well. So, let's see what happens. But he played really well the other night."
Mount could still depart
Mason Mount is still looked upon as a player who could have a "big impact" at United by Carrick. However, with Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba all signing to bolster the midfield, a late offer for a move away could get the green light. A foot injury kept him out of the defeat to Hull but he was simply not in the squad for the dominant Ipswich win. Coventry City was touted as a potential destination for Mount in order to reunite him with his former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.
Should these three depart Old Trafford, it would result in a weekly saving of £260,000 and an overall £13.5m off the annual bill.
