Maya Jama has been cautioned to "be careful" over her alliance with Richard E Grant on BBC's Celebrity Traitors, with a former contestant warning the Love Island host risks being taken down with him.
The 32-year-old presenter was selected by Claudia Winkleman to become one of the Traitors alongside Richard, 69, in the opening episode of the series which aired last week. The duo have since recruited comedian James Acaster, and the three are now plotting together to eliminate the Faithfuls one by one without arousing suspicion.
Richard's blunder exposed
The Faithfuls are already eyeing Richard as a potential Traitor following his jaw-dropping blunder, in which he inadvertently confessed to being a Traitor in front of several fellow cast members. He has since been desperately fighting to save himself from being booted off the programme by attempting to convince his fellow celebrities he was being strategic and toying with their minds.
During one of their clandestine gatherings in the Traitors Turret, Maya told Richard she would do her best to draw attention away from him — but a former contestant has cautioned that she risks getting burnt in the process.
Former contestant's warning
Fiona Hughes, who was handpicked by Claudia to become the first-ever Secret Traitor in series four, has offered her assessment of the current celebrity series and shared some sage advice for Maya.
The Welsh participant said: "I adore Maya. She is bright, she's beautiful and she's got everything going for her but I think she needs to be careful not to defend Richard too much otherwise he could take her down, not that he'd want to, but that's the way of the game."
Cliffhanger ahead
The second instalment, which broadcast on Friday (October 2), concluded on a cliffhanger as the opening roundtable of the series was set to commence, and viewers will discover tonight whether Richard has succeeded in persuading the group that he's not a Traitor.
Fiona added: "I'd love Richard to get away with it but his defence wasn't brilliant. I think if he said 'look I was just so excited to be here, it was a boob and it backfired on me' but he didn't. He has got some allies in there but I think if he gets away with it it'll be a miracle. I don't feel good about it. He is such a big personality but sometimes being one of the really well known ones isn't going to work in your favour."
Fiona is one of the UK's leading motivational speakers and is represented by Champions Speakers Agency for speaking engagements. The Celebrity Traitors continues tonight (Thursday, October 8) at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
