Fury vs Joshua tickets compared to boxing's biggest fights

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are finally set to face each other on December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. The long-time rivals will headline one of the biggest showdowns in British boxing history, with tickets going on sale on Friday.

Ticket details for the Cardiff showdown

The cheapest seats in the upper tier will cost £75, while VIP packages are expected to cost at least £1,000, according to The Mirror. Further ticketing details have yet to be released. Neither fighter is currently a world champion, but there remains huge intrigue over who will triumph in the ring.

Both men have defined an era of the heavyweight division. Fury initially dethroned Wladimir Klitschko to become unified champion in 2015, then returned from a spell out of the ring to clinch the WBC title in his trilogy with Deontay Wilder. Joshua rose to prominence during Fury's absence, stopping Klitschko at Wembley in 2017. At one point, the British duo held all four major heavyweight belts between them, but fight negotiations continually broke down over the years.

How the prices compare to history's biggest bouts

Although fans will have to splash out for the Fury-Joshua showdown, these are not the most expensive tickets in boxing history. Those attending Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao in 2015 paid between £1,000 and £5,000 ($7,500) for a seat at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, with only a limited number going on general sale.

Two years later, Mayweather faced UFC star Conor McGregor in a boxing bout. Tickets started at around £378 ($500) and rose to around £7,500 ($10,000), but were priced much higher on resale markets.

Joshua's most recent bout at the Principality Stadium, against Joseph Parker in 2018, saw tickets start at £40, with VIP packages reaching £2,000 as Joshua added the WBO belt to his collection.

Recent price points for both fighters

For Fury's first showdown with Oleksandr Usyk in early 2024 in Riyadh, upper tier prices ranged from £330 to £550. Ringside tickets for the first loss of Fury's career were available for £7,150. The cheapest seats for Fury's fight with Dillian Whyte at Wembley in 2022 were priced at £61.88, rising to £2,250.

At the same venue, fans could attend Joshua's win over Klitschko for as little as £40 in 2017. Seven years later, the cheapest seats for Joshua's loss to Daniel Dubois stood at £75.60, with Wembley prices reaching up to £950. That starting price was still lower than his clash with Jermaine Franklin at the O2 Arena in 2023, which began at £95.

Fighters trade words ahead of the bout

Discussing the prospect of finally facing Joshua, Fury said: “He never was any good to me. He would never beat me in a million years at any time. But when I hit him with that right hand, he's going to feel the full force of it and he's going to fall over in a heap. And then where does he go from there?”

After Joshua rejected having the fight staged in the USA, he hit out at the organisers: “I believe they want him to win more than me. I want to do good but if someone hits you, you stab them. If you f*** with me and you want to see me lose, I will f*** you up even more. I wanted to bring the fight to the UK and do good for people and do the right thing. But if that means people will hate me, and want to see me fail, then I am going to stomp all over them and raise a war they are not ready for.”

The fight will stream live on Netflix, which boxing fans can get for free with Sky's £15 Essential TV bundle, the brand's 'lowest ever price' for Sky TV.
