Liverpool are reportedly preparing a record-breaking bid for Mexican prodigy Gilberto Mora, according to TUDN. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder, who plays for Tijuana, has been linked with Arsenal, Barcelona and Real Madrid since his emergence in 2024.
Mora became the youngest player to represent Mexico at a World Cup when he featured for El Tri this summer. As he prepares to turn 18 next week, interest in securing his signature is intensifying. The bid is valued at 'in excess of £38million', which would make him Liga MX's most expensive departure in history.
Mora's international situation
Mora scored in a 1-1 friendly draw against Colombia last month but was kept out of Mexico's remaining friendlies during the international window. TUDN reported that national team manager Rafael Marquez made that decision with potential transfer moves in consideration.
It is claimed that development "is an indication the deal is progressing," with a possible January switch being explored. Liverpool face stiff competition from several top-tier rivals they will need to overcome to seal the transfer.
Reds battle Palace for Ndour
Another prospective acquisition is Fiorentina midfielder Cher Ndour. Liverpool will need to ward off interest from Juventus and Crystal Palace to secure the Italy international.
La Repubblica reported Ndour was the sole player at the Stadio Artemio Franchi considered 'unsellable' during the summer. That stance may be challenged if the Reds intensify their chase, with a bid around £30m thought to be sufficient. The former Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica midfielder, 22, has established himself as a crucial figure in Florence.
Midfield depth needed
Liverpool could require additional depth in midfield come next year. Veteran midfielder Wataru Endo is expected to depart when his deal runs out at the conclusion of this campaign. Questions also surround the future of Alexis Mac Allister, who will shortly enter the final 18 months of his contract.
PSG maintain a 50% sell-on clause in Ndour's deal following his switch to Fiorentina for approximately £3.5m last year. This would represent a tidy windfall for Les Parisiens should he depart next year, with Liverpool poised to capitalise.
