Matt Zukowski has become the latest celebrity contestant to be eliminated from the Australian jungle in Channel Ten's popular reality series I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! The 31-year-old Love Island Australia star was sent packing after losing a crucial final mini-trial, which officially concluded his challenging run in the famous camp environment.
Facing Fears and Emotional Reflections
After bidding farewell to his fellow contestants, Matt sat down with hosts Robert Irwin and Julia Morris for an emotional exit interview where he reflected on his transformative journey throughout the competition. The reality television personality admitted that he particularly enjoyed pushing himself beyond his comfort zone while in the jungle, managing to conquer his significant fear of heights during various trials and challenges.
'I just kept telling myself "Get it done, get those stars",' he revealed during his final interview session. Host Robert Irwin responded with genuine praise, saying: 'You came home with stars, so you faced your fear, and we were all very impressed. You faced your fears, mate. You should be proud.'
Charity Support and Personal Struggles
Matt also spoke candidly about the charity he chose to support during his time in the jungle, selecting Australian suicide prevention organisation R U OK? following several difficult years in his personal life. 'I was having difficulty, it was just someone asking me, "Are you OK?"' he explained, highlighting the importance of mental health awareness and support networks.
The reality star went on to open up about the considerable pressures of social media and the stark contrast between carefully curated online personas and real-life experiences. 'Plus, being on social media, you put this perception of yourself out there. That is one thing compared to what's actually going on behind that screen. And I think it's very important to remember that,' he shared thoughtfully.
Matt added that being open about his struggles had been therapeutic: 'I feel like being open actually helped me heal a lot. And a lot of people in there gave me a lot of advice.'
A Challenging Jungle Experience
However, Matt's jungle journey was far from smooth sailing, with the contestant experiencing significant emotional challenges throughout his time in the camp. Just last week, he broke down during a heartfelt conversation with fellow contestant and model Rachel Hunter, revealing how much he was struggling without his primary support system – his mother.
'Missing mum is probably the thing that's killing me most... I call her if I have some sort of issue. I call her and she talks me off a ledge, calms me down as mums do and it's hard not being able to do that,' he confessed during the emotional exchange.
Recent Evictions and Camp Dynamics
Matt's eviction follows fellow contestant Rachel Hunter's recent departure from the jungle after a particularly thrilling episode. The 56-year-old New Zealand model was eliminated after losing a guessing game to Matt himself, marking another significant change in camp dynamics.
'It's an incredible group of people and it was hard because obviously many bonds were made,' Rachel said in her own exit interview, becoming visibly tearful as she reflected on her experience. The model admitted she was 'disappointed' to leave the competition but remained gracious in defeat.
Her co-stars were equally disappointed by her departure, praising Rachel for the incredible energy and positive spirit she brought to the camp throughout her stay. The Auckland-born model originally rose to fame during the 1990s as a glamorous cover girl, appearing in numerous prestigious publications including Sports Illustrated and Vogue.
The ongoing eliminations continue to reshape the social dynamics within the jungle camp as remaining contestants face increasingly difficult challenges while competing for the coveted title of jungle champion.
