Love Island Australia Winners Reveal Turning Point That Saved Their Relationship
Love Island Winners Reveal Moment They Knew It Would Work

Love Island Australia's 2025 champions, Yana Marks and Kye Lambert, have opened up about the pivotal instant they realised their turbulent, on-again, off-again relationship had a genuine future. The Sydney-based exes, who entered the villa separately, walked away with the crown and a deeper connection forged in the crucible of reality TV.

The Villa's Unavoidable Confrontation

Yana, 21, and Kye, 22, told the Daily Mail that the intense environment of the ITV2 show forced them to tackle issues they had spent years evading. "You had to have those conversations and face the problems," Yana explained. She admitted their past was fraught, stating, "We broke up on toxic terms. Not bad terms, but very toxic." Kye concurred, acknowledging their history was full of "ups and downs."

The pair revealed that outside the villa, their communication breakdown was severe. "On the outside, we would just block each other and avoid the conversations that needed to happen," Yana said. However, the Love Island format left them no escape. "In the villa, you don't get that option. You're stuck together. You have to talk it out. That's why we were finally able to resolve things."

The Crucial Turning Point

For Yana, the shift began after fellow islander Lacey's departure. "I think when Lacey left we were like, 'oh, maybe we could see if we could run it back,'" she admitted. She described their initial reunion as a "safety net" that slowly grew into something more profound.

For Kye, the defining moment came during the show's iconic hotel stay. "That was when I knew what I wanted and what I'd lost," he confessed. "It made me realise that I did want Yana back. Trying to win her back was definitely the hardest part." Yana was initially stunned by Kye's decision to enter the villa, given his aversion to social media and the spotlight.

Victory, With a Twist

The couple received the most public votes, crowning them the nation's favourite pair. However, their victory came with a significant financial sting. Due to a shocking twist earlier in the season, where islander Dylan became the first in Love Island franchise history to leave with $20,000 from the prize fund, Yana and Kye's total winnings were reduced to just $30,000 to share.

Despite the reduced cash prize, the pair are focused on their relationship, which is stronger than ever. They have barely spent a moment apart since filming concluded, successfully translating their villa reconciliation into a solid partnership in the real world.
