Love Island: All Stars production halted as wildfires threaten South African villa
Love Island: All Stars evacuated due to wildfires

Production for the highly anticipated new series of Love Island: All Stars has been abruptly halted and the set evacuated after a wildfire broke out dangerously close to the show's South African villa.

Production Evacuated Over Safety Fears

Filming for the ITV reality series was already underway in Franschhoek, South Africa, when the fire ignited in the surrounding region. A source told The Sun that the decision was made to cancel filming and evacuate the location for the safety of everyone involved. This included the new cast of returning islanders and the show's host, Maya Jama.

The source stated, "A fire broke out close to the villa and it was deemed too dangerous to have Maya, the cast and all of the production crew working there in case it suddenly moved closer." They confirmed that filming was cancelled for the day with the hope of resuming on Sunday, 11 January.

Launch Date Hangs in the Balance

This unexpected disruption presents a significant logistical challenge for ITV, as Love Island: All Stars is still scheduled to premiere on Monday, 12 January 2026. The source described the situation as a "huge headache" and explained that it would make compiling enough footage for the launch episode a "far closer call."

"Naturally, if the fire is still posing a risk the show will be pushed back again," the source added. "It’s a very nervous wait over in South Africa." An ITV spokesperson officially confirmed the precautionary measure, saying, "Owing to an ongoing wildfire in the area, we have evacuated the Love Island production site." The broadcaster emphasised that the welfare of the cast and crew is its top priority.

All-Star Cast Awaits Return to Villa

The All Stars edition features a line-up of popular former contestants returning for another chance at love. This year's roster includes past winners Millie Court and Jess Harding. Other confirmed islanders are:

  • Belle Hassan
  • Whitney Adebayo
  • Helena Ford
  • Leanne Amaning
  • Tommy Bradley
  • Sean Stone
  • Charlie Frederick
  • Ciaran Davies
  • Shaq Muhammad
  • Jack Keating

The incident in South Africa coincides with a severe bushfire crisis in Australia, where the state of Victoria has been given a "catastrophic" fire danger rating, the highest possible level.
