Louise Thompson and her fiancé, Ryan Libbey, have announced they are leaving their podcast He Said, She Said, citing ongoing backlash and a series of what Ryan described as “pretty tricky episodes.” The former Made in Chelsea star and her partner have faced criticism over the years for their opinions, most recently for comments about potty training.
Comments on Potty Training Spark Fury
The duo, whose podcast claimed to be an “unfiltered” chat, appeared to mock children who are still in nappies when starting school. Louise expressed shock at a statistic that one in four children are sent to school before being fully potty trained, then laughed when Ryan said it was “a raw deal” for teachers. She added: “Maybe it’s a bit of a cop out they’re like ‘oh my child’s crying and they’re being a bit difficult, I can’t be bothered with the hassle so I’m just going to take the easy route.’”
Furious fans branded her “privileged” and called the conversation “disgusting and disappointing,” noting there are many reasons children may not be fully potty trained before school. Louise later apologised on Instagram, stating: “It was never our intention to offend so many people and children who have so many of their own challenges and both Ryan and I are deeply devastated.”
Decision to Pause the Podcast
Announcing the decision on their podcast, Louise explained: “For a long time we’ve really been focusing heavily on work and I think now it’s time for us to take some time to ourselves. Our son starts school in September and also you know we’ve spoken very honestly about our fertility journey and the run up to that on here.” She added: “We’re in an exciting spot with it now, moving forward quite quickly. So we’re actually going to be pressing pause on the podcast for a little while as we step into what feels like maybe a new chapter in our lives.”
Ryan chimed in: “There’s been sort of a mixed bag of some pretty tricky episodes but then some fun moments and overall it’s a good opportunity to grow as a couple. Those days felt particularly difficult, it’s reassuring and super refreshing as well to know that the level of honesty and vulnerability does touch and connect with people.” Louise concluded: “We’re so grateful for your continued support and I just wanted to say how much we’ve loved building this community.”
Fertility Journey and Fan Support
While the couple have faced ups and downs, many fans appreciated their candid discussions about their fertility struggles. The podcast, which started in 2024, built a community around their honest conversations. The couple now plans to focus on their family and upcoming wedding.
