Kim Kardashian has described Caitlyn Jenner’s transition as “TV gold” during a discussion about reality television. The remark came on the latest episode of The Kardashians, the family’s Hulu series, where Kim compared the pressures of reality TV to scripted acting.
In a confessional, Kim said she felt more judged while filming Ryan Murphy’s legal drama All’s Fair than during reality shows. However, she acknowledged that viewers prefer drama, quipping: “What happened to the days when your stepdad turns into a woman? That was TV gold.” Caitlyn Jenner came out as transgender in 2015 during season 10 of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Kim previously made a similar comment on The Graham Norton Show, saying the intrigue around Caitlyn’s transition kept the show running for extra seasons. “Once, when we wondered what might happen next, my stepdad turned into a woman and there were two more seasons right there,” she said.
Despite the ratings boost, Kim admitted the experience was difficult for the family. On the Call Her Daddy podcast, she called it the “hardest thing” they faced publicly, adding that Caitlyn was not open about her transition beforehand, leaving them to navigate mixed emotions on camera.
