Kim Kardashian Reflects on Caitlyn Jenner's 'TV Gold' Transition
Kim K: Caitlyn Jenner's Transition Was 'TV Gold'

Kim Kardashian has candidly described her stepfather Caitlyn Jenner's public transition as 'TV gold' for the family's former reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

The Reality TV Revelation

During a recent episode of the family's Hulu series, The Kardashians, Kim compared the pressures of starring in a scripted legal drama to the experience of living her life on a reality programme. She explained that while acting comes with a fear of being judged, reality television simply involves 'living your life the only way you know how'.

However, she quipped about the unique challenges of reality stardom, noting that viewers often crave drama over calm. 'It’s like, what happened to the days when your stepdad turns into a woman? That was TV gold,' she remarked during a confessional interview.

A Pivotal Moment for the Show

This is not the first time Kim has linked the show's longevity to Caitlyn's journey. Last month on The Graham Norton Show, the Skims founder claimed the intrigue surrounding Caitlyn Jenner's 2015 announcement directly contributed to the series' success.

'We shot the pilot and had no idea what it would turn into, but 20 years on it is still going,' Kim stated. 'The shows write themselves. Once, when we wondered what might happen next my stepdad turned into a woman and there were two more seasons right there.'

The Family's Emotional Struggle

Despite the on-screen success, Kim has been open about the profound difficulty her family faced during that period. In an October appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, she revealed that Caitlyn's transition was 'the hardest thing' the family had to endure publicly.

She described the complex emotions, explaining that her mother, Kris Jenner, was unsure how to handle the situation, while her younger half-sisters, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, felt they were 'losing their father'. Kim also noted that Khloe Kardashian was 'super emotional and upset about it'.

'We're learning this all for the first time, and then we wanna be supportive for our little sisters, trying to be supportive for my mom, who's now getting a divorce, and making sure we don't say anything super offensive,' Kim recalled. 'So we just had to kind of figure it out, and we did it all on camera.'
