Hannah Fry's Traitors mistake exposed by Richard Osman

Richard Osman has highlighted where Hannah Fry went wrong during Thursday night's episode of The Celebrity Traitors, after the mathematician was recruited by the Traitors.

Discussing her recruitment with The Rest Is Entertainment podcast co-host Marina Hyde, Richard suggested that Hannah has now attracted suspicion from her fellow players, meaning her place on the show is at risk.

Osman's advice on refusing recruitment

"What Hannah could have done, should have done, if I was Hannah, is refuse them and then gone into breakfast the next day and said, 'they tried to recruit me, I said no'," Richard explained.

"What would happen, in that instance, is the producers would be very aware, probably the next turret, that they can't tell them to recruit again, because it's too on the nose."

The Pointless and House of Games presenter emphasised: "But, yeah, Hannah should absolutely have said, 'this is not for me'."

Recruitment leaves players baffled

The recruitment meant the Traitors were unable to murder either of the remaining two unshielded players, Hannah or Jerry Hall.

When the celebrities entered breakfast the next morning, their co-stars were left perplexed, with suspicion falling on both as possible Traitors deserving of banishment at the upcoming Round Table.

Earlier in the episode, Hannah told Joe Lycett about the spreadsheet she was using to play the game, revealing: "I have every possible combination of three people. Every night, I go back and eliminate all the universes where I've seen people consistently together."

Mathematical approach questioned

After praising Hannah's intelligence and mathematical approach to the game, Richard's co-host Marina observed: "She's got this incredible system, this mathematical thing, she was talking about universes, and groupings, and she was able to rule people out that way.

"And yet, when she was given the binary choice, in my view, she chose the wrong one."

Richard concurred: "Yes, because maths is all well and good and is incredibly useful if you are a Faithful, because there are groupings, there are certain ways to rule people out, or rule people in.

"But all the maths in the world doesn't really help you when you're in that chaos."

The pair also noted how "incredibly nervous" Hannah had appeared at breakfast, which drew Miranda Hart's attention, placing her in danger of banishment.

The Celebrity Traitors continues tonight from 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
