Gogglebox introduces two new faces to Friday night's lineup as best friends Jude, 76, and Sherry, 77, make their debut on tonight's episode of the Channel 4 show. The pair are swapping their globetrotting adventures for the Gogglebox sofa, bringing their distinctive bond and a wealth of stories with them.
Friendship and shared history
Jude and Sherry's friendship began when their sons were born, and they have remained inseparable ever since. In 2009, both women were widowed just a year apart from one another.
Following the loss of their partners, the two became closer than ever, and in 2017 they embarked on a journey of worldwide travel together, visiting destinations including Singapore and Goa, according to the Mirror. The duo are now ready for their next adventure on the Gogglebox sofa.
Viewers welcome the newcomers
Posting about the newcomers on the official Gogglebox Instagram, viewers were quick to welcome Jude and Sherry. One person said: "Welcome to the box family. Looking forward to meeting you both on tonight's programme, see you at 9pm."
Another account put: "Welcome to the Gogglebox family", a different viewer wrote: "Hello it's nice to see you welcome to our favourite program" while another person added: "Hell to you both and welcome!"
What to expect on the sofa
Talking about what usually happens when they watch television together, Sherry said: "Jude and I love the same things, we often discuss programmes and alert one another if we have watched something good. We are both opinionated but unlikely to shout the other one down!"
Jude added: "We are both pretty opinionated and often agree. Fall asleep? Never. Far too young."
Discussing their children's reaction to them joining Gogglebox, Sherry said: "I have only told my three children who are very happy and excited for me. They have all known Jude since they were born and they think we have a great connection. I haven't told any friends because I thought it would be better to wait and see how we get on! Jude's kittens, Goose & Bertie may be allowed to join us…"
Jude added: "My three adult children are, in order of birth, amused, curious and 'Mum, make sure you use your interesting plates for the snacks. No plastic.' I haven't told anyone else - I will surprise them. Goose and Bertie, 18-week kittens, may well make an appearance as both are very camera savvy!"
