Good Morning Britain presenter Lois Swinnerton has confirmed she is taking a break from the show and has revealed her replacement. The ITV newsreader, who usually presents regional news, travel and weather bulletins from the Midlands, announced her departure on social media.
Lois confirmed she would return to ITV Central in a year and introduced her stand-in. She teased a “personal life” update, with fans speculating in the comments that her sign-off hinted at European travels.

Lois said: “Saying bye for now! It’s my last few days waking you up on Good Morning Britain in the Midlands for a little while. From next week I’m switching off the 4am alarm and taking a few months off for a new adventure in my personal life! I look forward to seeing you all again on ITV Central next year. Until then À bientôt!”
Lois also promised viewers they would be “in the hands of the fantastic Nitya Rajan”, who has previously reported regional news segments for Good Morning Britain. Nitya shared her career move weeks ago, writing: “Thrilled to be joining ITV Central as their Early Presenter. Looking forward to joining the team in August.”
Lois’s Journey at ITV Central
Lois joined the Midlands presenting team for Good Morning Britain in 2023, saying at the time: “Having grown up in Staffordshire, I am thrilled to be back home in the Midlands after spending seven years working away in various parts of the UK.”
“As ITV Central’s early presenter, I’ll be setting my alarm nice and early to share the latest headlines from across the region as you’re waking up. I am looking forward to reporting on all of the big news stories from across the Midlands, while also sharing with you those lighter stories that make us smile, and make us proud of the wonderful area that we call home.”
“Away from the newsroom, my biggest passions are travelling and the great outdoors. I’m particularly excited to rediscover some of the beautiful countryside the Midlands has to offer.”
Other Presenter Updates
This comes after another Good Morning Britain presenter shared a personal update on the programme. During the show on Thursday, August 28, Ranvir Singh and Adil Ray stepped in to host for Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, who are taking a break over the summer months.
Amid the headlines, including the devastating deaths after a flashflood in Nepal and an interview with Liam Payne’s cousin for the first time, Ranvir and Adil took a moment to celebrate some good news. The show had featured a segment on new dads taking parental leave, with a reporter speaking to those calling on more paternal pay and rights. When the cameras returned to the studio, the presenters shared their own thoughts.
Sean Fletcher laughed as he said: “My kids are adults now and I know how expensive it is, actually it’s still costing me loads of money.” Ranvir, who is a single mum to her son after welcoming him in 2012, then added: “We’ve just had a new born baby in our family in the last few days, and my nephew, little Avir, he’s very, very cute, and his dad is saved up every single day of annual leave this year, just so he can be at home.”
Ranvir continued: “It is really difficult to manage,” while Adil chipped in to offer his congratulations to his co-host. Concluding the segment, Ranvir said: “Thank you so much Sean, if you’ve got any thoughts on that, let us know.” Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
