Coronation Street actor Junade Khan has expressed his pride for his young daughter Alara-Star after she landed a role in Ridley Scott's latest film, The Dog Stars, which is set for release on Disney+ this month. The actor, who joined the ITV soap earlier this year as Idris Nazir, attended the film's premiere with his wife Gem and their daughter.
Family of Child Stars
When Junade joined Coronation Street, he revealed that his children are also experienced performers. "My mum and mother-in-law watch Coronation Street avidly, so they're very excited," he said at the time. "And my kids are actually on screen more than me! My daughter worked with Angelina Jolie in a film called Anxious People and did a Ridley Scott film, and my little boy has done a Marvel film and Waffle the Wonder Dog. So now there's me in Corrie - it's all good!"
Premiere Night Celebration
Alara-Star plays Matilda in The Dog Stars, a post-apocalyptic science fiction film set after a devastating flu pandemic that has nearly wiped out humanity. The movie stars Jacob Elordi as Hig, a former civilian pilot, and Josh Brolin as Bangley, a hardened ex-Marine, as they face outside threats and hope for a better life. The cast also includes Guy Pearce, Allison Janney, and Benedict Wong.
At the premiere, Junade and Gem shared their joy on Alara-Star's parent-run social media account: "Still pinching ourselves that our Alara-Star got to walk the red (well grey) carpet at the world premiere of The Dog Stars! Such a special moment for her, and for us to experience as proud parents alongside her. We are so incredibly proud of her and so grateful to everyone who has supported her, believed in her and worked so hard behind the scenes to help her get her to experience a moment like this."
Proud Father's Tribute
Junade also posted on his own Instagram, saying: "What a great evening at the Dog Stars Film premiere, @wongrel ,Jacob and Ridley Scott were amazing to our daughter @alara_star who had the best time in Italy filming, so proud of her and the movie was great too x."
He added alongside pictures of the family: "My girls [heart emojis]. So proud, moments like these make all the self-tapes and auditions totally worth it. Never give up, or lose hope, keep trusting. You never know what door god will open in your life #thedogstars #20thcenturyfox #disney."
