A GB News guest dramatically walked off the set during a heated exchange with presenter Nana Akua. Matthew Laza clashed with the host as they discussed Britain's "economic turmoil" and borrowing costs, and tensions quickly escalated.
Disagreement over sovereignty and the EU
Matthew said: "We all respected the democratic vote, and it's proved a disaster. The reason I wanted to leave was because of sovereignty." Nana responded: "Not how much money was on the side of a bus, which I didn't really believe or care about," referring to Reform's campaign vehicle featuring a billboard claiming Britain sent £350 million weekly to Brussels.
Matthew replied: "Ok, but they put it on the side... Nana, let me finish, please!" as she shot back: "No!" before he raged: "I'm going to, Nana. Ok, I'm going to keep talking, so either we can have a polite conversation."
Host moves on as guest leaves
The presenter then bypassed him entirely. "You've done your bit," she said before turning to another panellist, Lord Bailey, reports the Express. Matthew said: "I'm not being spoken to like that," as Nana retorted: "Ok, fine, what are you going to do about it?" to which he replied: "Leave!"
Nana said: "Well, do what you want, but it's somebody else's go. You've had plenty of time." While Lord Bailey began offering his perspective on the matter, Matthew stormed off set and banged a door as he departed.
Viewers react on social media
After the heated segment, viewers took to X/Twitter to share their thoughts. One person said: "I thought Nana handled that really well. Nana is chairing the debate; she moved the conversation on. That should have been the end of it. I like Matthew, but that was out of order."
Another commented: "Laza used to be mild-mannered - what has happened to make him so rude and aggressive?" while a third posted: "Hilarious, he flounced off, and the others just carried on as if they hadn't noticed. Unfortunately, he came back 45 mins later." A fourth wrote: "What an absolute child. Love the feet stomping and door slamming. Infantile."
