Country music star Ella Langley cancelled her sold-out show at the Bok Centre in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday night just hours before she was due on stage, citing a “serious security threat”.
The 27-year-old singer, best known for the single Choosin’ Texas, shared a statement on Instagram around two hours before the performance to announce it could not go ahead.
“Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of my fans, the venue staff and my team, the incredibly difficult decision was made to cancel tonight’s show,” she wrote. “This decision was made under the advisement of local authorities, the venue and my security team.”
Apology to fans
Langley added: “I know how much time, travel, money and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can’t tell you how sorry I am. This is not a decision that was made lightly. I was so looking forward to spending tonight with you, but your safety will always mean more to me than anything else. I refuse to put anyone in harm’s way.”
The venue also shared a statement announcing the cancellation, which read: “The safety and wellbeing of everyone involved is our absolute priority, and after careful consideration, we have determined that the show cannot proceed.
“We understand the disappointment this news brings and apologise to fans who planned to attend. The safety of fans is our foremost concern and will always come first.”
Refund details to follow
The post added that additional information and details regarding ticket refunds would be shared “as soon as possible”. It concluded: “We appreciate your understanding and co-operation as we prioritise the safety of all concerned.”
Langley rose to fame with her debut studio album Hungover in 2024, which included successful singles like You Look Like You Love Me and Weren’t For The Wind. Her second studio album, Dandelion, was released in April this year and debuted atop the US Billboard 200.
Last month, the album’s lead single, Choosin’ Texas, overtook Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You to become the longest-running number one single in US chart history. The song’s success also saw her sweep the Academy of Country Music Awards in May, winning artist-songwriter of the year, female artist of the year, single of the year, song of the year and music event of the year.
