Mr Kipling fans have expressed their excitement after spotting new items on supermarket shelves, with the new cinnamon bun sponge puddings arriving in time for the colder months and the run-up to Christmas.
The cake brand has also introduced raspberry and Madagascan vanilla sponge puddings, which have been spotted on Tesco shelves. These new desserts are part of Mr Kipling's Signature Collection and are available in packs of two for £3.
Shoppers react to the new puddings
Commenting on the discovery on Facebook's NewFoodsUK page, one user said: "Omg, there goes the diet." Tagging a friend, another wrote: "If you find these, I need 98."
A third commented: "Mmmm I need to try these!" Another user added: "I'll have this as my Christmas pudding."
Product description and other treats
The product description reads: "These heavenly Mr Kipling sponge puddings are the perfect desserts. Each pack contains two fluffy sponge puddings, smothered in a delicious sauce."
Heating instructions advise removing the seal and placing the pudding upside down on a microwavable plate, heating on full power for 30 seconds, then allowing the sauce to coat the sponge. The description warns the pot will be very hot and suggests waiting one minute before enjoying.
The new sponge puddings are not the only treats in the Signature Collection. Customers can also find mince pie cakes, brownie cake mix, brownie bites, as well as cake mix and cake icing.
Nutritional labelling
Mr Kipling uses a traffic light labelling system to help shoppers track nutritional intake. A statement on the brand's website reads: "Finding out exactly what’s in each and every one of Mr Kipling’s treats is a piece of cake. We’ve signed up to the UK Government Voluntary Traffic Light Front of Pack Labelling Scheme to help you make more informed choices."
The statement adds that every pack has a label allowing shoppers to check, compare and choose the right snack for their family, with energy, fat, saturated fat, sugar and salt listed. All Delicious & Light products are amber or green on the traffic light system.
