Curtis Pritchard Admits Secret Villa Sex with Maura Higgins
Former Love Island contestant Curtis Pritchard has made a startling revelation about his time on the popular ITV2 reality dating show. The 30-year-old dancer confirmed he engaged in a secret sexual encounter with fellow islander Maura Higgins during the 2019 series, an intimate moment that never made it to television screens.
Podcast Confession Unveils Hidden Details
During a candid appearance on the Private Parts podcast, Pritchard opened up about his villa experiences when host Liv Bentley directly questioned him about sexual activity during filming. "Did you have sex on there?" Bentley asked, prompting Pritchard's admission: "I did – not with Amy though. I've never owned up to that as well."
Though initially hesitant, Pritchard appeared to confirm under his breath that his physical intimacy occurred with Maura Higgins. The revelation comes as particularly surprising since the couple reached the Love Island final together that season, presenting a united front to viewers while keeping their most intimate moments completely private.
From Amy Hart to Maura Higgins: A Villa Romance Shift
Pritchard's villa journey began with a relationship with Amy Hart, which ended when Hart dramatically walked out of the program. Shortly afterward, Pritchard connected with Maura Higgins, and their relationship quickly intensified behind closed doors. "With Amy, I mixed up, like, first time doing Love Island, I mixed up fun emotions, excitement, lust for sex definitely was in there," Pritchard explained during the podcast interview.
When pressed about whether sexual activity was common in the villa environment, Pritchard responded cryptically: "Oh, everyone..." before trailing off, suggesting such encounters might be more frequent than viewers realize.
Post-Villa Careers and Reflections
Since their time on Love Island, both Pritchard and Higgins have built substantial television careers. Higgins has competed on Dancing on Ice and I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!, presented Love Island USA: Aftersun, and appeared on Cooking With The Stars. Meanwhile, Pritchard has returned to the villa multiple times, including appearances on Love Island Games in 2023 and the All Stars spin-off, where he finished third alongside Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu.
In previous interviews, Higgins has reflected on their relationship, telling The Sunday Times that the villa environment created artificial connections: "You're in this confined space and maybe you think you like someone that you probably wouldn't on the outside."
Addressing the Amy Hart Controversy
Pritchard also addressed his controversial split from Amy Hart, which occurred during the Casa Amor segment of the show. "I think with that whole Amy situation, there's a Casa Amor bit that we may all be forgetting about," he explained. "You're not able to talk to your other half there, so it changes the reality of things ever so slightly."
The dancer emphasized his desire to have communicated more openly with Hart during that pivotal moment: "My one goal that I wanted to do when that Casa Amor bit happened was to be able to talk to Amy and let her know how I'm feeling... You can't do that in that scenario so there isn't anything I could learn or change from that too much really."
Despite the controversy, Pritchard maintains he strives to be respectful in his relationships, stating: "I feel like I'm normally - touch wood - very respectful. I try to be anyway."
