Coronation Street newcomer Nathan Sussex has teased that his storyline is far from over following his recent arrival in the long-running show as Richie Parkinson.
Those who follow the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, will have seen the actor make his first appearance earlier this month in the role of Richie Parkinson. In his first scenes, Tim Metcalfe was surprised to pick up his cousin, Richie, whom he hadn't seen in years, as a fare in the precinct. With his wife, Sally, away, Tim invited Richie over for drinks with the lads.
Richie's Arrival and Confession
Tim and Richie reminisced about their childhood, and when the other lads left, Richie confided in Tim about his unhappy marriage. Tim offered him a place to stay for the night, which Richie accepted, but he had to make himself scarce following Sally's return.
Tim advised Richie to try to sort things out with his wife, Rachel, so he headed home, but he accidentally left his wallet behind. When Tim returned later on, he was left in shock as he saw Richie's shirt covered in blood and Rachel lying lifeless on the floor.
Murder Charge and Aftermath
The next time we saw Tim and his wife, Sally, in Weatherfield, they sat in shocked silence after a sleepless night. Soon, DS Lisa Connor-Swain called round and confirmed that they had charged Richie with the murder of his wife.
Lisa informed Tim and Sally that his daughter, Lucy, has been taken into care, while Richie claims he acted in self-defence. But Lucy has since ended up in Tim and Sally's care, after her placement fell through and Tim felt like he needed to look out for his previously unseen family member.
Teasing a Big Christmas
Now, Nathan has teased that there could be more to the story. Speaking during an interview with BBC Radio Wales, the former Hollyoaks star said: "When you get a job like this, they kind of tell you the story arc. But, of course, because it's a new storyline, I only know stuff up until a certain period."
He hinted Christmas could be a big time, as Nathan added: "All I know is it's quite a big Christmas hook, and you know the dream, I would love to be in Coronation Street on Christmas Day. While you're tucking into your Ferrero Rochers or your Roses, yes, I'll be on your screens. I don't know. Perhaps. Isn't that the dream?"
