Fortnite Season 4, titled Override, launches on August 20 and will feature a wide array of video game crossover characters, according to Epic Games' promotional poster. The season is described as a celebration of gaming, with crossovers spread across Battle Pass skins, Sidekicks, and gaming-themed Sprites.
New and Returning Characters
The promotional poster includes Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, Joker, Sora, and Crash Bandicoot. Returning characters expected to appear in the Item Shop include Geralt of Rivia, Ryu, Lara Croft, and Master Chief.
Deeper references include Tetris elements, a character resembling Link (but not actually Link), and a cameo by Hiroshi Jackson from the racing game Screamer. Original Fortnite designs and reimagined versions of previous characters like Bushranger are also featured.
New Map Features
A new trailer reveals that Sonic's Green Hill Zone will join the map, complete with Rings and speed boosters. A Pac-Man island shaped like one of the game's Ghosts, a Jungle Lair, and an area built by Doctor Robotnik are also shown.
Fortnite will be taken offline for extended maintenance on August 20, coinciding with a massive update. Fans can then start working through the Battle Pass and unlocking new crossover skins.
