Three people have died after a helicopter crashed on the Greek island of Sifnos, sparking a large fire in the Tholos neighbourhood. The private helicopter went down shortly after 6pm local time on 17 August 2026, according to the fire department.
Crash and fire response
Rescue crews and firefighters were dispatched to the crash site in Tholos and quickly brought the flames under control. The bodies of three people were recovered from the site, the fire department said.
