Corrie fans 'work out' Jodie's fate after shooting twist

Coronation Street viewers believe they have worked out the fate of Jodie Ramsay (Olivia Frances-Brown) following a dramatic shooting incident on the cobbles. The character, who first appeared in January during the Corriedale crossover episode, disclosed herself as the long-lost half-sister of Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) after arriving in Weatherfield.

Since her arrival, Jodie has caused considerable turmoil, including attempting to seduce brother-in-law David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd), stealing numerous belongings from fellow residents and hiding them in her trinket box - including a firearm - and assaulting Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) on the night of Theo Silverton's (James Cartwright) murder.

Armed confrontation on the cobbles

Events escalated this week when Jodie's deceptions were uncovered, culminating in an armed confrontation between Jodie, David and Shona. A frantic Jodie aimed a weapon at her sister and brother-in-law, though they believed it to be imitation, reports the Daily Star.

Shona grappled with Jodie in an attempt to seize the gun, but a deafening shot rang out, and it emerged that Jodie had been wounded. A distressed Shona then tried to help Jodie as she collapsed onto the sofa, drenched in blood.

Fans predict a break from the cobbles

Fans are now convinced that, while Jodie will likely survive the gunshot wound, a temporary absence from the cobbles could still be on the horizon for the troubled character. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer wrote: "Jodie won't die, but I can see her going away for a while to a mental hospital now everything has come out."

A second fan concurred: "Yeah, same, no way can she stay on the street." A third viewer chimed in: "I thought that too." Adding to the sentiment, another commented: "That'd make sense, she needs help."

Actress on Jodie's chaotic nature

Separately, actress Olivia recently opened up about the troublesome Jodie, saying: "Trouble follows her around like a bad smell. She is always caught up in the chaos."

"Whatever's going on, if there is any chaos in the street, she'll probably be at the heart of it. It's the way that she is. It's who she is. It's the way she has learned to deal with things. It's the way she goes through life."

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
