Coronation Street fans think they have spotted an error in Jodie Ramsey's storyline as her fate was seemingly confirmed following the recent dramatic shooting on the cobbles.
Having previously attempted to get in between her sister Shona Platt and her husband David, Thursday's (October 8) episode of the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, featured the shocking moment when Jodie proved she would stop at nothing to steal her sister's life, after they were reunited for the first time in years back in January.
Jodie's plan backfires
Having been playing with her sister's mental health in recent weeks, viewers watched as Jodie tried to seduce David. She thought she had what she wanted when Shona arrived home, having been given information about Jodie's games by Bethany Platt.
But she also knew what was going on, as David was playing along with Jodie's seduction while hiding his phone under a towel, allowing his wife to listen in before she interrupted them.
As David and Shona confronted Jodie, she struggled to worm her way out of her latest plan, especially after David pulled out her trinket box. Backed into a corner, Jodie pulled out a gun, but Shona and David seemed unbothered as she'd previously convinced them the weapon she had was fake.
Shooting and aftermath
Tackling her sister head-on, a scuffle broke out, and Shona ended up pulling the trigger, and a gunshot rang out. It was soon clear that Jodie had been shot, as she clutched her stomach and fell back onto the sofa. A distressed Shona then attempted to help Jodie as she bled out.
In Friday's (October 9) follow-up episode of Corrie, a panic-stricken Shona tried to help Jodie, while David phoned the emergency services. When asked if the patient was hurt, David lied and said that they'd heard the gunshot and ran in to find Jodie alone. As Jodie was taken to hospital, David disposed of the firearm, revealing it was in the canal.
Fans question the trinket box
Later, as she came round, Jodie discovered that the family hadn't told the police that she was the one who owned the firearm in the first place, and she was soon using their lies to her advantage. While Jodie hinted at her plans at the end of the episode, as Lisa Connor-Swain came to interview her.
As Sunday's (October 11) episode aired, David and Shona were seen being dragged to the station by Lisa for questioning. They stuck to their false story, despite the blackmail threats from Jodie, and while David was keen to see the back of his sister-in-law, Shona was guilt-ridden and decided she still wanted her younger sister to stay in her life and stay at No.8.
However, when Shona headed back to the hospital to speak to Jodie, she was gone, and it was a nurse who let her know that the patient had discharged herself. But it wasn't Jodie's disappearance that got Corrie fans talking, as they were more interested in the whereabouts of her trinket box, which could hold a lot of evidence against Jodie to help David and Shona out of their predicament.

@kellycrumpton94 shared: "Why don’t they just tell the police the truth. She pointed the gun at david, there was a struggle and the gun went off.. give them jodie’s little secret box while they’re at it and that’ll back their story that she’s a little cuckoo #corrie #coronationstreet"
@JulieFrost3 added: "All of the lying is so unnecessary - why not just say what actually happened, inc the box with the warrant card. But no, the boring storyline gets dragged on and on. Tedious! @itvcorrie #Corrie."
