Corrie fans predict Shona prison twist after Jodie flees hospital

Coronation Street viewers are convinced they have worked out what is in store for Shona Platt after her sister Jodie Ramsey disappeared from her hospital bed. Fans of the ITV soap believe Shona could be heading for a prison storyline following the dramatic gun incident.

Jodie's reign of terror

Jodie (Olivia Frances Brown) has been targeting Shona (Julia Goulding) for months. Her most recent plot involved attempting to seduce Shona's husband David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), prompting the couple to decide it was time for her to leave.

While David gathered Jodie's belongings, he discovered a suspicious box containing items including his watch, a photograph of Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove), DS Lisa Connor-Swain's (Vicky Myers) warrant card and a gun.

The shooting and the lie

Jodie claimed the weapon was a replica, but during a struggle with Shona, she accidentally shot herself. DS Swain arrived at the scene, but David deceived the officer, claiming he and Shona were outside the property when they heard the gunshot and there was no trace of the perpetrator when they entered the house.

David was subsequently seen disposing of the gun at a local canal, but some viewers are convinced his wife Shona could be facing imprisonment.

Fan theories

On a Coronation Street fan Facebook page, one viewer wrote: "If they lie to police they'll find gunshot residue on Shona's hands and she said she was in the garden." Another viewer posted: "It must be Shona's turn to go to prison next."

A third remarked: "Shona's prints would be all over it. They all deserve to be punished for their stupidity and perverting the course of justice."

Jodie vanishes

In Sunday's (October 11) instalment, DS Swain appeared puzzled by the situation, especially questioning why David had thought to call her about the discovered police badge instead of simply handing it over when he saw her.

Prior to heading to the station to provide a fuller statement, David and Shona were keen to discover what Jodie had already disclosed to police, so made their way to the hospital where Jodie revealed she'd informed officers that an intruder had attempted to burgle the property and shot her when she interrupted them.

Shona felt relieved that her sister had exonerated them, though David insisted she could have no involvement with the family going forward. Jodie swiftly launched into an emotional performance, saying that she had nothing and nobody to turn to.

Subsequently, the Platts quarrelled about Jodie's future. Shona blamed herself, believing the shooting wouldn't have occurred without their meddling, but upon returning to the hospital ward, Jodie had vanished.

The nurse informed Shona that Jodie had left against medical advice, but could this be part of her latest devious scheme to raise alarm about her wellbeing in an attempt to persuade Shona and David to allow her to remain?

Coronation Street airs weeknights on ITV1 at 8.30pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX.
