Coronation Street fans believe they have worked out Jodie Ramsay's fate after she was shot during a dramatic gun showdown. Jodie (Olivia Frances-Brown) made her debut in January during the Corriedale crossover episode. She then arrived in Weatherfield, where she revealed herself as the long-lost half-sister of Shona Platt (Julia Goulding).
Trouble on the cobbles
Since then, Jodie has settled into life on the cobbles but has caused plenty of drama, including trying to seduce brother-in-law David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd). As well as stealing several items from fellow residents and stashing them inside her mysterious trinket box, including a gun, Jodie also attacked Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) on the night of Theo Silverton's (James Cartwright) murder.
Recently, Jodie turned her attention to her sister Shona and her newborn baby, Harper, who is now back home after months in hospital. Clearly troubled, Jodie has been tormenting Shona with cruel mind games.
The gun showdown
Things took a dramatic turn this week when Jodie's lies were exposed, leading to a gun showdown between Jodie, David, and Shona. A desperate Jodie pulled a gun on her sister and brother-in-law, but they assumed it was fake. Shona then fought with Jodie to try to retrieve the gun; however, a loud bang was suddenly heard, with it being revealed that Jodie had been shot. A panicked Shona then tried to assist Jodie as she fell back on the sofa, covered in blood.
Now, fans are certain that although Jodie will likely survive the gunshot, a soap break could still be on the cards for the troubled character. In a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person said: "Jodie won't die, but I can see her going away for a while to a mental hospital now everything has come out."
Fans react
A second person agreed: "Yeah, same, no way can she stay on the street." A third viewer chimed in: "I thought that too." Echoing their thoughts, another person commented: "That'd make sense, she needs help."
Meanwhile, recently talking about troublemaker Jodie, actress Olivia said, "Trouble follows her around like a bad smell. She is always caught up in the chaos. Whatever's going on, if there is any chaos in the street, she'll probably be at the heart of it. It's the way that she is. It's who she is. It's the way she has learned to deal with things. It's the way she goes through life."
Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
