Police confirm death of school employee

"Despite resuscitation, it was not possible to save the life of a 37-year-old school employee," Masovian police said on X. Officers confirmed the 15-year-old suspect is now in police custody, with an investigation into the attack ongoing.

A police statement said: "A 15-year-old is already in police custody, who around 9am entered a school in the village of Leszczydół-Nowiny, in Wyszków County, and wounded 3 staff members of the facility with a sharp tool."

"Among the injured is the director, who subdued the 15-year-old. Police were on the scene just a few minutes after the report. At the moment, police activities are ongoing."

Second knife attack in two days

The incident comes just a day after a knife attack at another Polish school left at least seven people injured. Emergency services were called to Vocational School Complex No. 4 in Ostroleka before noon on Wednesday, with an air ambulance deployed as two people were reported to be in a serious condition.

Police said officers from Ostroleka detained a 19-year-old man "suspected of attacking people with a sharp tool near and on" the school premises. "According to preliminary information, seven people may have been injured," a statement said. "Officers at the scene are carrying out procedures and determining the course of events."

Students are said to have barricaded themselves inside classrooms before police detained the suspect around 20 minutes later. The teenager was detained near the city beach on the Narew River, reports RMF 24.

Third teenager arrested over school threats

Police also revealed a 17-year-old has been arrested over threats to attack his school on Wednesday. The teenager was arrested at his apartment in the central town of Sierpc after telling classmates he planned "to do something bad".

A police statement said: "During the search, they secured a pouch belonging to the 17-year-old, which contained two knives. Investigators also seized his mobile phone, in which they found searches for information regarding the planned attack."

"Thanks to the level-headed reaction of the pupils and the teacher, and the lightning-fast action of Sierpc police officers, a 17-year-old who announced he would 'do something bad at school' was stopped."
