Corrie fans fume over David and Shona's lie as Jodie Ramsey problem spotted

Coronation Street fans have been left fuming over David and Shona Platt's decision to lie about the shooting horror involving Jodie Ramsey, as they spotted a huge problem for their future.

Those who follow the ITV soap, filmed in Salford, will know that in last Thursday's (October 8) episode, Jodie finally thought she'd got what she'd been hoping for, having planned to steal her older sister Shona Platt's life, after they were reunited for the first time in years in January.

Having previously attempted to get in between Shona and David, Corrie fans saw the dramatic moment when Jodie proved she would stop at nothing to steal her sister's life as she went all out to seduce David, thinking she'd finally got Shona out of the picture.

Shooting aftermath unfolds

During Friday's (October 9) follow-up episode, a panic-stricken Shona tried to help Jodie, while David phoned the emergency services. When asked if the patient was hurt, David lied and said that they'd heard the gunshot and ran in to find Jodie alone.

Paramedics and a firearms officer arrived at the scene, alongside DS Lisa Connor-Swain, as an investigation into what had happened quickly got underway. It was later in the episode that it was confirmed Jodie had made it through surgery and was doing well, meanwhile, David and Shona tried to get their story straight, with David already having dumped the gun in the canal.

Later, as she came round, Jodie discovered that the family hadn't told the police that she was the one who owned the firearm in the first place, and she was soon using their lies to her advantage. While Jodie hinted at her plans at the end of the episode, as Lisa Connor-Swain came to interview her.

Fans spot problem

As Sunday's (October 11) episode aired, David and Shona were seen being dragged to the station by Lisa for questioning. They stuck to their false story, despite the blackmail threats from Jodie, and while David was keen to see the back of his sister-in-law, Shona was guilt-ridden and decided she still wanted her younger sister to stay in her life and stay at No.8.

However, when Shona headed back to the hospital to speak to Jodie, she was gone, and it was a nurse who let her know that the patient had discharged herself. But the episode only left Corrie fans more annoyed with David and Shona as they try and get themselves out of getting into trouble with the law, while still facing the prospect of Jodie returning and making things worse for them anyway.

David & Shona should come forward & tell Lisa everything otherwise someone will definitely get really hurt one day.. The locals will blame them in the end for not opening up."

I know I wouldn't. #corrie." @swoosh286 added: "... The stupid thing is David and Shona had no reason to lie, this is all on Jodie, the gun went off accidentally and it was Jodie's fault for saying it was a fake gun in the first place!"
