Coronation Street fans are convinced they know what happens next to Shona Platt after her sister Jodie Ramsey vanished from her hospital bed. Fans of the ITV soap opera are aware that Jodie's (Olivia Frances Brown) campaign of horror against Shona (Julia Goulding) has been going on for months.
Her latest scheme saw Jodie try to seduce Shona's husband David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) and the couple decided enough was enough and it was time she packed her bags. As David started to put Jodie's stuff together, he uncovered a mysterious box full of items including his watch, a photograph of Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove), DS Lisa Connor-Swain's (Vicky Myers) warrant card and a gun.
Shooting and a Cover-Up
Jodie insisted the firearm was a replica but during a scuffle with Shona, she accidentally shot herself. DS Swain rushed to the scene but David lied to the copper and said he and Shona were outside the property when they heard the gunshot and there was no sign of the culprit when they went into the house.
David was later seen disposing of the gun at a nearby canal but some fans are convinced his wife Shona could be about to be put behind bars.
Fan Predictions of Prison
Taking to a Coronation Street fan Facebook page, one fan penned: "If they lie to police they'll find gunshot residue on Shona's hands and she said she was in the garden."
Another added: "It must be Shona's turn to go to prison next." A third said: "Shona's prints would be all over it. They all deserve to be punished for their stupidity and perverting the course of justice."
Jodie's Hospital Disappearance
During Sunday's (October 11) episode, DS Swain was confused about the incident, particularly why David had thought to call her about the recovered police badge rather than just handing it over when he saw her.
Before going to the station to give a more detailed statement, David and Shona wanted to know what Jodie had told the cops first so paid a visit to her in hospital where Jodie said she'd told the police that someone was trying to burgle the house and when she disturbed them, he shot her.
Shona was thankful for her sister clearing their names but David stated that she couldn't play any part in the family moving forward. Manipulative Jodie quickly put on a tearful display, saying that she had nothing and nobody to turn to.
Later, the Platts bickered over what should happen to Jodie. Shona blamed herself, thinking that the incident wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for their intervention but when she returned to the hospital ward, Jodie was nowhere to be seen.
The nurse explained to Shona that Jodie had discharged herself but is this all part of her next sinister plan to spark concern for her safety in a bid to win Shona and David over to let her stay?
Coronation Street airs weeknights on ITV1 at 8.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX.
