Coronation Street viewers believe they have uncovered Toyah Battersby's secret child in a shock DNA twist. Fans of the ITV soap have pointed out a striking resemblance between Toyah (played by Georgia Taylor) and Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner) during recent scenes.
Platt family turmoil
The theory comes amid a turbulent period for Toyah and the Platt family. Toyah's stepson, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan), was diagnosed with schizophrenia earlier this year after experiencing hallucinations. He recently relapsed, pushing Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) down the stairs at the Rovers and admitting to spending over £6,000 of his dad Nick's (Ben Price) money on cryptocurrency.
Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) has also been causing problems at number eight, attempting to push her older sister, Shona (Julia Goulding), out of the picture. Jodie played random baby noises in the house to make Shona think she was hearing things, then framed Shona's stepdaughter, Lily, leading Shona to spend a night at the Chariot Square Hotel.

The drama escalated when David (Jack P. Shepherd) and Shona uncovered Jodie's hatred of her sister. Jodie pulled a gun on the pair, moments before she was shot in the stomach after a tussle with Shona. In the latest episode on Friday (October 9), now streaming on ITVX, David called an ambulance and claimed he and Shona heard the shot from outside the house when questioned by DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers).
As viewers wait to learn what happens next, some believe they have rumbled a shock DNA twist. At Shona's birthday gathering at the Bistro this week, fans noticed a resemblance between Toyah and Lily. Sharing the theory on a Facebook fan page, one person wrote: "Is it me or does Lily Platt have a resemblance to a younger Toyah?" Another added: "It may come out that she was the baby that Toyah buried at the Red Rec."
A third said: "I saw the resemblance last night!" Others pointed out Lily's likeness to Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), who left Weatherfield last year. Coronation Street airs weekday nights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
