Claudia Winkleman's Traitors Success Highlights Strictly's Decline

Claudia Winkleman has highlighted the struggles of Strictly Come Dancing by returning to the successful Celebrity Traitors, while the BBC dance competition faces criticism over its new hosting lineup.

Winkleman quit Strictly last year alongside Tess Daly, prompting a lengthy search for replacements. After months of auditions and chemistry tests, the decision was made to hire three hosts instead of two, with Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe taking over. The gamble appears to have backfired, with viewers reportedly unhappy with the change.

Traitors Triumphs Over Strictly

Winkleman has moved on to Celebrity Traitors, which has attracted notable celebrities including Michael Sheen, Bella Ramsey and Miranda Hart. The show's format has proven consistently popular, contrasting with Strictly's current roster, which includes lesser-known figures such as social media star Cach Mercer, dog trainer Graeme Hall and content creator John Nellis.

The latest episode of Celebrity Traitors featured Richard E Grant confessing to being a Traitor early on, which has been described as some of the best television this year. The show is praised for its tension, high stakes and camaraderie among contestants, alongside Winkleman's elaborate outfits.

Strictly's Challenges Mount

While Winkleman appears comfortable in her role at the Scottish castle, Strictly is reportedly struggling to fill her position, with dissatisfaction over Johannes Radebe's hosting. The Traitors and its celebrity spin-off have demonstrated that reality TV still works when the format, host and contestants are strong, areas where Strictly seems to be failing.

Strictly is attempting to revamp a format established by Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly, but faces challenges from recent scandals and the departure of both long-time hosts, making a comeback difficult to envision.
