Claudia Winkleman banned from jewellery on Traitors set

Claudia Winkleman is not allowed to wear jewellery while filming the start of each series of Celebrity Traitors, because it would make too much noise and give the game away.

The presenter returns to screens on Thursday October 1 at 8pm on BBC One with the second series of Celebrity Traitors. Maya Jama, Richard E Grant, Michael Sheen and Leigh-Anne Pinnock are among the stars competing in the castle this year.

Producer reveals strict jewellery rule

Executive producer Sarah Fay revealed at a BBC screening of the season: "Claudia is not allowed jewellery when we do the Traitors pick. We’re very strict on that, in case it jangles."

Claudia selects the Traitors at a roundtable during the pick. The former Strictly Come Dancing host has explained that she sometimes taps her shoes on the floor to make it harder to guess who she might be picking.

Winkleman admits she gets scared

Admitting she gets "scared" during this part of the series, she said: "I have to wear spiky, noisy, scary shoes. I feel like I’m doing flamenco because I stop a lot."

She described her style on the series as "human crow meets golf caddie meets the artful dodger". Claudia has also said she thinks she is "too thick" to be on the show as a contestant.

She said: "I'm too thick. I mustn't play it in public. I must not, thank you so much. I'm just being honest. I could have come up with a schmoozier (answer) but no. It's a privilege to play that game and to be at the round table, but I think I would just be too awful at it."

The Celebrity Traitors begins on Thursday October 1 at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
