A contestant on Channel 4's new reality show, Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing, has dramatically quit after only one day, following an explosive row with her co-star. The incident marks the second pair to exit the competition, missing out on the chance to win a substantial £100,000 prize fund.
Jo and Reuben's Short-Lived Partnership
Jo and Reuben were among the nine pairs chained together by host Jonathan Ross in this high-stakes experiment. Participants must remain handcuffed 24/7, sharing every activity, with the rule that uncuffing at any time results in immediate elimination from the competition.
The Breaking Point
After spending their first night together in the same bed, Jo admitted she struggled to relax, and tensions escalated during shower time. An emotional Jo explained, "I was hoping to use the shower to decompress and reset myself to carry on with the challenge." She later requested a phone call with a producer, who emphasized the need for teamwork, but this advice fell on deaf ears.
Despite Reuben's attempts to reassure her, Jo dragged him downstairs and smashed open a red box to retrieve the key for the handcuffs. Upon being freed, Reuben expressed his frustration, stating, "Sorry, I can't say much. I'm f**king fuming. We signed up for this challenge we knew it was going to be hard. She's a nice person but she was never cut out for this competition."
Jo's Perspective
Jo countered with her own view, saying, "It was like nothing I've ever encountered in my life. Every single thing that comes out of his mouth is to impress somebody but he really needs to learn to show a bit of compassion. There is a positive from this and it is that I've stopped him from winning and that is worth £500,000 let alone £50,000." The duo lasted just 24 hours and 16 minutes before their departure.
Earlier Exit of Benjamin and George
This is not the first pair to quit the show prematurely. British aristocrat Sir Benjamin Slade and East London prison officer George exited after just over 12 hours, failing to see eye-to-eye while staying in Benjamin's 14th-century ancestral home in Somerset.
Clashes and Confrontations
George clashed with one of Benjamin's friends about Nigel Farage, the leader of the Reform Party, during a tense dinner party. Benjamin then stormed through his residency, demanding his phone back from the Channel 4 filming crew, despite strict rules prohibiting phone use. When the crew refused, Benjamin dragged George to the basement and used bolt cutters to free themselves.

With these two pairs out, seven pairs remain in the running for the £100,000 prize. Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing airs on Channel 4, offering viewers a glimpse into the intense dynamics of this unique social experiment.
