Celebrity Traitors: Unseen Moments Revealed by Stars

The second series of Celebrity Traitors has been a major hit for the BBC, with the first episode drawing an overnight audience of 8.9 million viewers—nearly 3 million more than the first series. While viewers have seen plenty of drama in the castle, some of the wildest moments never made it to air.

Stars from the current series have since spoken out about unseen incidents that could rival Alan Carr's 'murder' of Paloma Faith and Celia Imrie's accidental fart before a challenge.

Taunts and Near Misses

Alan Carr and Jonathan Ross have confessed to taunting comedian Lucy Beaumont when they 'killed' her face-to-face. Alan said on Jonathan's Reel Talk podcast that producers cut a part where he warned her not to "mess with us."

When Lucy told Jonathan, Alan, and fellow Traitor Cat Burns that they'd "let her down," Jonathan told her they were "doing better than you," adding: "You're dead! Ha ha!" He then said he told Lucy: "See you, wouldn't wanna be you!" Jonathan admitted feeling guilty afterwards, with Alan adding: "It was like kicking a poppy. She's so cute!"

Jonathan also revealed he almost exposed himself as a Traitor to sports broadcaster Clare Balding. Clare told The Traitors: Uncloaked host Ed Gamble that she was "going to go for" Jonathan, which he attributed to something he said to her that didn't make the TV cut. It made her suspicious of his Faithful status, but she ended up voting for Charlotte Church before being booted. Jonathan reckons this was because she lacked support from fellow Faithfuls.

Intense Roundtables and Slip-Ups

YouTuber Niko Omilana said his early elimination was more heated than viewers saw. He told Instagram: "One thing you guys didn't see was that round table was the most intense thing I've ever seen in my life. Obviously, they have to cut it down for TV and make it shorter but there was some people going crazy on me and I was like 'ok then'."

Alan couldn't stop giggling at Stephen Fry during one round table. He told Radio Times: "There was one funny bit that didn't stay in, but at one round table, Stephen Fry said, 'We have to think about the Cambridge spies. Philby, Blunt… they were flamboyant characters, camp but still under the radar'. I'm sitting directly opposite, saying 'Ooh I know!' and laughing."

Nick Mohammed told The Comedian's Comedian podcast that one celeb snapped at producers over not knowing the time. "When we were in the castle, you'd be like 'What's the time?' And [the producers would] be like 'It's Traitors time!'. Every single member of production had to just answer with that. [That went on] until someone kicked off and they said, 'It's a basic human right, you can just tell us the time, it doesn't mean anything!'".

EastEnders star Tameka confessed to accidentally referring to herself as a Traitor instead of a Faithful while talking to actor Mark Bonnar, who voted for her twice. This Morning host Ben asked her about the slip, which viewers didn't see, and she replied: "Yeah, I mean, people make mistakes…"

The Toll of Deceit

Alan Carr broke down sobbing in front of host Claudia Winkleman when revealed as the winner, telling co-stars: "I'm so sorry, it's been tearing me apart." Jonathan revealed they both struggled with guilt from lying to Faithfuls. He told Good Morning Britain that being a Traitor began to "take its toll" on Alan, who was sometimes left "with his head in his hands."

"Cat took it all in stride – she saw it as just a game. But sometimes, after filming late into the night, Alan and I would be driving home with our heads in our hands thinking, 'Oh God'. We could tell it was getting to him. Still, it was such an incredible experience to be part of."
