BBC viewers were left unimpressed by the latest episode of Celebrity Traitors, with many taking to social media to complain that the episode was "boring" as the remaining Faithfuls attempted to determine which three contestants were Traitors.
The episode, which aired on Friday (October 16), saw a new recruit, a banishment, a roundtable clash and a murder in plain sight cliffhanger, yet some viewers were not entertained.
Joe Lycett forced to exit
Comedian Joe Lycett was forced to exit after being suspected of being a Traitor for having spent the previous day openly shouting that he wanted to be recruited. After an intense round-table debate, the Faithfuls voted to banish him, only to be devastated when the 38-year-old revealed he was actually a Faithful and the new recruit, Kenny, was still among them.
Taking to X/Twitter, one unimpressed viewer complained: "Packed up watching. The Traitors are just not devious, they've made some odd choices ... I got bored."
Viewers switch off
Another revealed they had switched off the programme, stating: "Got bored, just dreary celebrities, with traitors who are just not very devious. I couldn't care less who gets bumped off or not...not a patch on Alan Carr last year...turned over to watch the Yorkshire Vet."
"I never thought I'd get bored of #TheTraitors, especially with such a strong cast, but I'm now behind and not sure I will catch up," added a third.
Addressing the scenes, another fumed: "I thought it had potential but they be unnecessarily dragingggg scenes making it boring."
As one fan highlighted: "The Traitors trying to bore people to death with random cuts to Miranda and Leigh-Anne performing Touch has me in actual tears. That was the moment of the series."
"New traitors season is soooo boring," echoed a sixth.
Secret twist mission
Later in the evening, the Traitors, Maya Jama, James Acaster and Kenny, were tasked with taking on a secret twist mission instead of the usual night murder, and had to murder a Faithful in plain sight by boring them to death.
They were forced to spray a special substance in a room, lure a Faithful inside, act incredibly boring, and wait for them to yawn.
Maya and James set up a trap in a communal room, where they were joined by Jerry Hall and Ross Kemp and asked dry questions about Texas. As other contestants entered and left the room, the pair yawned excessively, hoping a Faithful would catch the yawn, to which they would say: "Am I boring you?" before sealing the murder by saying the victim's name at the end.
While this took place in the library, in another room, Leigh-Anne was teaching Miranda Hart the dance move to Little Mix's 2017 hit, Touch, with the scenes regularly switching as they were completely unaware of a murder under way down the corridor.
The episode ended on a cliffhanger, leaving viewers waiting until next week to see if either Ross or Jerry will fall victim to the trap and succumb to the yawn.
