Celebrity Traitors has returned for a second season, with Claudia Winkleman back as host of the BBC reality show. Last year, comedian Alan Carr was crowned the first ever winner.
This year's lineup includes actor Richard E Grant and Love Island presenter Maya Jama, who were selected as Traitors. Grant inadvertently exposed his role during the opening episode. Claudia then allowed the duo to recruit another participant, selecting comedian James Acaster.
Do Celebrity Traitors cast members get paid?
Yes, the Celebrity Traitors cast members receive payment for taking part in the show. Reports from last year suggested the 2025 stars, including Stephen Fry, Paloma Faith and Celia Imrie, each earned £40,000, meaning the BBC distributed approximately £760,000 in total.
On The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, presenter Marina Hyde remarked: "Look at the calibre of the people they got. They were able to pay everybody a blanket 40k fee, right? They're paying them a 40k fee."
However, former rugby international Joe Marler disclosed that the precise sum fluctuated according to the celebrity, with him collecting £30,000 for his appearance on The Celebrity Traitors last year. The BBC has declined to comment on what stars are paid for taking part in the series.
Prize money and next episodes
Aside from their appearance fee, the famous faces are battling to secure up to £100,000, determined by their performance across each task. This prize money will be donated to their chosen charitable cause.
On Friday, October 2, the stars assembled around the round table for the first time to banish someone, with Richard firmly in the firing line. Fans will need to wait until Thursday, October 8, to find out the actor's fate. Celebrity Traitors continues every Thursday and Friday at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
