Alison Hammond leaves This Morning suddenly, Dermot explains

Alison Hammond disappeared from This Morning during its last live broadcast of the week, with Dermot O'Leary covering and saying she felt "a little unwell". The ITV show began on Friday (October 2) as normal with Alison and Dermot at the helm. However, she left not long into the programme, following a segment about pets.

Viewers react to sudden departure

Viewers flocked to social media to ask about Alison's disappearance and check that she was ok as they admitted they were no longer able to focus on the segment following the sudden change.

Dermot then addressed her absence when the show returned after an advert break, saying: "Welcome back to This Morning, Alison is feeling a little unwell, so she’s just had to duck out." He then added: "Hopefully she’ll be back."

Dermot confirms he will host solo

The former X Factor host later told viewers that Alison, who also hosts The Great British Bake Off which is currently airing on Channel 4, would not be returning, and said: "Ali’s feeling a little unwell so I’ll be here for the rest of the show."

The TV personality, 51, rose to fame in 2002 when she appeared as a contestant on Channel 4 reality show Big Brother. She has since appeared on programmes including I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and Strictly Come Dancing, having forged a successful career as a broadcaster.

She first appeared on This Morning in 2003 and became a co-host in 2021, and is known for memorable TV moments and celebrity interviews, such as playing Connect 4 with pop star Beyonce. She co-hosts The Great British Bake Off alongside comedian Noel Fielding.
