The Kyle and Jackie O Show, once Australia's highest-rated breakfast radio programme, has been taken off the air after a dramatic fallout between its co-hosts. The Australian Radio Network (ARN) announced the immediate suspension of the show, citing 'serious misconduct' by Kyle Sandilands following a complaint from Jackie Henderson.
Henderson informed ARN that she could no longer work with Sandilands, leading to the termination of her £100 million contract, signed in 2023 for a decade-long run. The network also issued a written notice to Sandilands, stating that his behaviour during the show constituted 'an act of serious misconduct' in breach of his services agreement. He has been suspended for 14 days and must remedy the alleged breach or face contract termination.
The rift began after an on-air spat on 20 February, in which Sandilands mocked Henderson's interest in astrology. Henderson has not presented the show since, sparking speculation about the future of the partnership, which was valued at £200 million and attracted 1.5 million listeners. ARN has offered Henderson the possibility of an alternative show on its network.
The show has a history of controversy, with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) last year considering enforcement action for repeated breaches of decency rules. The ACMA found seven breaches of decency and complaint handling rules across Sydney's Kiis 106.5 and Melbourne's Kiis 101.1, owned by ARN.
